Unemployed thief jailed

Tema, Oct. 05, GNA – The Tema Circuit Court ‘B’ on Tuesday sentenced an unemployed man to 24 months imprisonment for stealing a suitcase containing 200,000 cedis belonging to a woman at Tema Newtown. Cudjoe Akrobetor, pleaded guilty to charges of unlawful entry, stealing and unlawfully causing damage to property.

Police Chief Inspector Edith Nutakor told the court presided over by Mr Stephen Teye that on August 19 this year, when the complainant and her husband left the house for the fishing harbour, Akrobetor broke into their room and stole the suitcase that contained 200,000 cedis and two pairs of lady’s shoes.

The prosecution said a witness, and a sister of the complainant saw Akrobetor with the stolen items and money and raised the alarm leading to his arrest.
