British soldiers donate to Osu Children’s Home

Accra, Sept. 29, GNA – Members of Three Commando Brigade, Royal Marines participating in jungle warfare training in Achiase, Eastern Region, on Tuesday donated food rations and mineral water estimated at 40,000 pounds, about 640 million cedis, to the Osu Children’s Home on behalf of the British Armed Forces.

A statement from the British High Commission in Accra said the crew of the logistics support ship, RFA Fort Rosalie, also donated toys; children’s clothing and sporting wear to the Home.

Major Andrew Ferguson, Commanding Officer of the Three Commando Brigade, said the ration was high-energy food normally for disaster victims.

He said it had been donated to the orphanage as the British soldiers contribution towards the upkeep of the 130 orphans at the Home. Ghanaian and British soldiers are undertaking joint military exercises at Achiase.
