Assembly calls for peaceful elections

Donkro-Nkwanta (B/A), Sept 27, GNA – Mr Collins Ofosu, Assembly Member for Donkro-Nkwanta in Nkoranza District, has warned the electorate against destroying posters belonging to political parties. He told the GNA at the weekend that the community had formed a task force to help arrest people who would destroy party posters. “We have caused a gong-gong to be beaten to inform the people about practices that go against electoral laws,” he said.

Mr Ofosu appealed to the youth and supporters of political parties to guard against negative utterances that could mar the general elections in December.

He advised them against insulting opposing party members or making abusive or provocative statements at campaign rallies to avoid triggering quarrels and confusion in the communities. ”Let us take lessons from the upheavals in Liberia, Sierra Leone, La Cote d’Ivoire, Congo and others in Africa and never to allow partisan politics to divide us.”
