Forget Africa, This Is About The Ghana Premier League – Karim Zito Ahead Of Super Clash

Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has stirred the pre-match atmosphere ahead of Sunday’s Super Clash against Hearts of Oak, insisting that continental achievements should not overshadow domestic competition.

Speaking to Akoma FM, the Porcupine Warriors boss made a bold statement as he dismissed comparisons with Hearts’ past performances on the African stage.

“Take Africa out of this. We’re talking about the Ghana Premier League, not Africa,” Zito declared. “They couldn’t qualify for Africa, we did. So, let’s leave Africa aside and focus on Ghana. Here in Ghana, we’ve conceded fewer goals.”

The comments come as Kotoko prepare to face their arch-rivals Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium in one of the most anticipated fixtures of the season.

Zito’s side head into the clash with momentum after an emphatic 4-2 win over Karela United, while Hearts will be banking on home advantage to make a statement in front of their fans.

The rivalry, which has defined Ghanaian football for decades, promises another intense chapter as both teams aim to assert their dominance in the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League campaign.
