Eat local foods and get regular check-ups to prevent hypertension and diabetes. – MCE advocates

Honorable Dominic Adoma Ameyaw, the Dormaa Central Municipal Chief Executive, has encouraged residents within his municipality to consume locally sourced foods and to ensure regular medical check-ups as a means to reduce the risk of developing chronic health conditions such as hypertension and diabetes.

The MCE made this statement during his visit to churches in KofiBadukrom, Babianiha, Antwirifo, and Dabaabi, all within the Dormaa Central Municipality. The purpose of his visit was to raise awareness among the people about sanitation and environmental cleanliness, drug abuse, and teenage pregnancies.

He emphasized that while hypertension and diabetes can be hereditary, our daily activities, including dietary habits, also expose us to these chronic diseases. Therefore, it is important to consume local foods and undergo regular medical examinations to prevent these conditions.

He advised the people to reduce the excessive intake of alcoholic beverages, sugary foods and drinks, oily foods, and to manage stress, as these are all risk factors contributing to hypertension and diabetes.

Some members of the church, in response to the Municipal Chief Executive’s address, urged the Government to facilitate the operation of Zoom Lion to bolster the government’s sanitation initiatives. Meanwhile, others emphasized the need for commitment from community members to actively participate in communal labor, thereby contributing to a cleaner environment.
