The Ghana Health Service has announced an initiative to undertake vaccinations for the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) to reduce the risk of cervical cancer among women.
In this regard, the Dormaa Central Municipal Health Promotion Officer, Madam Christiana Mpoma, has urged parents to encourage their daughters to accept the HPV vaccines.
During a Program dubbed Nkwa Hia chaired by Nana Yeboaa Asuamah on GIFTs FM, Mad Christiana Mpoma emphasized that these vaccines play a crucial role in providing protection against the human papillomavirus, which is associated with various health issues, including cervical cancer and other potential ailments.
She stated that by promoting acceptance of these vaccines, parents can contribute to safeguarding their daughters’ long-term health, thereby preventing them from dangers of Cervical Cancer.
Mr. Mahama Asuma, a Mental Health Officer at the Dormaa Central Health Directorate, highlighted the significant health impacts that cervical cancer has on women. He emphasized that prevention is best achieved through self-protection, which includes accepting the HPV vaccines.
He stressed that these vaccines are scheduled to be administered to school-going girls of ages between 9 to 24 from the 7th to 11th of October this year.
