“A True Star of Africa”: Bawumia Pays Tribute to late Apostle Kwadwo Safo

Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has paid a heartfelt tribute to Apostle Kwadwo Safo, founder of the Kristo Asafo Church and the Kantanka Group of Companies, who died on Thursday, September 11, 2025, aged 77.

In a statement shared on his Facebook page on Sunday, September 14, the NPP flagbearer hopeful described Apostle Safo as more than a spiritual leader, lauding his innovation, philanthropy, and commitment to Ghana’s progress.

“I received with profound sadness the news of the passing of Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, a trailblazing Ghanaian innovator and founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission,” Dr. Bawumia wrote.

He praised Apostle Safo’s pioneering role in promoting homegrown technology and encouraging industrial development in Ghana, noting that his charitable deeds touched countless lives.

“As a religious leader, he welcomed me with warmth. Anytime I visited, I left his presence with words of wisdom and inspiration,” Dr. Bawumia recalled.

He extended condolences to Apostle Safo’s family, the Kristo Asafo Mission, and all who mourn him, expressing hope that his legacy will continue to inspire Ghanaians to embrace local solutions, serve their communities, and put the nation first.

Known as the “Star of Africa,” Apostle Kwadwo Safo was celebrated for his groundbreaking work in automobile manufacturing, agriculture, and philanthropy.
