Large crowd welcome Ibrahim Adam home

Savelugu (NR) – A large number of supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), sympathizers and relatives of Mr Ibrahim Adam, former Minister of Food and Agriculture, welcomed him to Tamale, after serving a two-year jail term in Kumasi Prisons. It took an entourage of riders on motorcycles, bicycles, horses and other means of transport, about three hours, to traverse the over 13-kilomtres distance to escort Mr Adam, at the Tamale- Kumasi Police Barrier, amidst cheers and other fanfare.
At the outskirt of Tamale, a number of people, lined up along the Tamale-Bolgatanga road to catch a glimpse of Mr Adam.
At some points along the road, the former Minister was forced to come out of his vehicle while relatives shed tears.
Mr Adam defied a rainfall to address a political rally at Savelugu where he expressed profound gratitude to the people for giving him an inspiring welcome.
He urged NDC supporters in particular and Dagombas in general, to remain united.
He appealed to the people to vote massively for the NDC in the Election 2004, to bring development and prosperity to the Northern Region.
“NDC is human development centered and has Ghanaians at heart”, he said.
The Savelugu NDC Constituency Chairman, Alhaji Issah Seeboy predicted that the NDC would win the Savelugu parliamentary seat by a large margin of votes.
He appealed to NDC supporters to remain calm in the face of provocation during the Party’s political campaigns. An Accra Fast Track High Court sentenced Mr Adam and others for causing financial loss to the state in the on-going Quality Grain case.
