Nigeria has emerged as the winner of the 2025 Onga Jollof Battle – West African Edition, reigniting the long-standing culinary rivalry over who serves the best Jollof rice.
The competition, organised by Onga Ghana under Promasidor Ghana Limited, brought together top chefs from Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, Cameroon, and Niger to settle the debate on the region’s most beloved dish.
At the end of the closely contested event, Nigeria walked away with the title of West Africa’s Jollof champion, a cash prize of GH₵50,000, a package of Promasidor products, and the ultimate bragging rights. Ghana secured second place, while Senegal finished third.

Both nations have long claimed their versions reign supreme, with fans from each side fiercely defending their country’s recipe.
