“This Is My Safe Place” – Antoine Semenyo Explains Why He Committed Long-Term to Bournemouth

Ghanaian international Antoine Semenyo has opened up about his decision to commit his future to AFC Bournemouth, revealing that the emotional connection he has with the club played a big part in signing a long-term contract.

In a heartfelt statement, the 24-year-old forward described Bournemouth as his “safe place”, a club where he feels valued and supported both on and off the pitch.

“This is my safe place,” Semenyo said. “I felt wanted. That’s important to me, not just as a footballer, but as a person.”

The former Bristol City striker joined Bournemouth in January 2023 and has since become a key part of the Cherries’ frontline, earning praise for his pace, work rate, and growing maturity in front of goal.

Semenyo’s extension is seen as a vote of confidence in the club’s vision and its ambitions in the Premier League. His performances have steadily improved, with the forward earning admiration not just from fans, but also from teammates and coaches.

For Semenyo, however, the decision to stay went beyond football.

“From the moment I arrived, I’ve felt a sense of belonging here,” he said. “It’s not just about the game, it’s about the people, the support staff, the fans. I’m in an environment where I can grow.”

Semenyo also remains an integral part of the Ghana national team and is expected to play a key role in their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign.

Bournemouth fans have welcomed the news of his contract renewal, hopeful that his best years in red and black are still ahead.

As he continues to evolve, Semenyo’s story stands as a reminder that sometimes, what matters most in a career isn’t just the next move, but finding a place to call home.
