Randers Loan Made Me Who I Am – Ghana’s Mohammed Fuseini

Ghana international forward Mohammed Fuseini has credited his breakthrough to a transformative loan spell at Danish club Randers FC, saying the move reignited his career and helped shape him into the player he is today.

The 23-year-old joined Randers from Austrian side Sturm Graz during the 2024 winter transfer window, after a frustrating period battling for minutes following an injury return. What began as a temporary move soon became a defining chapter in his football journey.

In just 16 league games, Fuseini netted nine goals and provided an assist, a stunning run of form that caught the attention of Belgian top-flight side Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, where he now plies his trade.

“I knew the assistant coach at Randers. He always wanted me to play there,” Fuseini told Joy Sports.

“The first time they approached me, it didn’t happen. But when it did the following year, I knew it was the perfect moment to go and show what I could do in the Danish league.”

The former Sturm Graz striker also revealed that interest from Union Saint-Gilloise during his time in Denmark served as additional motivation.

“At some point during the season at Randers, my agent told me about USG’s interest. That pushed me to perform even better. I felt that if I gave my all, the move could materialise, and it did.”

Fuseini’s performances in Denmark didn’t just revive his club career, they also strengthened his credentials for a spot in Ghana’s senior national team setup, the Black Stars.

Having now settled in at Union Saint-Gilloise, Fuseini is preparing for his UEFA Champions League debut and believes his loan spell at Randers was the key turning point in both his professional and personal development.

“That chapter made me who I am,” he said.

Now at the heart of one of Belgium’s most exciting clubs, Fuseini’s star continues to rise and for the young Ghanaian, it all started with one bold move to Denmark.
