Cristiano Ronaldo Pays Emotional Tribute to Diogo Jota: Says, His Death “Doesn’t Make Sense”

Cristiano Ronaldo has led tributes to Diogo Jota following the shocking news of the Liverpool and Portugal forward’s death in a car accident at the age of 28.

In a deeply emotional message, the Portugal captain struggled to come to terms with the tragedy, recalling how recently they had shared time together in the national team camp.

“It doesn’t make sense,” Ronaldo wrote. “We were just together with the national team. You had just gotten married to your wife.”

The football world has been stunned by the loss of Jota, who died in a road accident in Zamora, Spain, on Thursday morning, just days after celebrating his wedding. Spanish outlet Marca confirmed the fatal incident, which also claimed the life of Jota’s Brother.

Ronaldo, offered his heartfelt condolences to Jota’s loved ones:
“To your family, your wife, and your children, I send my condolences and wish them all the strength in the world. I know you will always be with them.”

“Rest in peace, Diogo and André. We will all miss you,” he concluded.
