Big Akwes Apologises for Cina Soul ‘Killing’ Comment After Police Tag and Public Outcry

Kumawood actor Big Akwes has issued a public apology to Ghanaian singer Cina Soul after making disturbing comments about her on a live television game segment, prompting backlash and a direct appeal to the Ghana Police Service.

The controversial remarks were made during Bryt TV’s “Kiss–Marry–Kill” segment, where Big Akwes, asked to choose between actress Vivian Jill and singer Cina Soul, shockingly described in detail how he would “kill” Cina Soul. The actor claimed he would summon her through a spiritual mirror, stab her multiple times, and drink her blood.

The graphic nature of the comments caused an uproar on social media, especially after Cina Soul posted on X (formerly Twitter) on July 1, 2025, tagging the Ghana Police Service and other public officials to demand urgent action. “This is not a joke. I’m afraid,” she wrote, sparking a wider conversation about violence and accountability in entertainment.

In response to the outcry, Bryt TV brought Big Akwes back on-air, where he expressed regret and clarified his remarks. “This was meant purely for entertainment purposes; I never intended to actually harm her,” he said. “I even learned that her mother was scared by what I said, and for that, I’m truly sorry. Mummy, please don’t let this weigh on your heart.”

Akwes further acknowledged the emotional impact his words may have had on Cina Soul and her loved ones. “I sincerely apologize if my comments caused panic for Cina Soul, her family, close friends, or anyone connected to her. I have no malicious intentions toward her.”

Bryt TV also issued an official apology, stating: “We extend our sincere apology to singer, Cina Soul and our cherished audience for any unintended offense caused during the ‘Kiss, Marry, Kill’ segment. We remain committed to upholding respect and responsibility in our content.”

The incident has renewed public concern over the tone and ethical boundaries of entertainment programming in Ghana.
