Ghana concludes debt restructuring talks in China

Ghana’s Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has concluded debt restructuring talks in China, a crucial step towards stabilizing the country’s economy.

Dr. Forson revealed that the discussions with China’s Ministry of Finance, China Exim Bank, and key creditors were constructive and represent significant progress towards finalizing the debt restructuring process.

“The engagements were a critical step in the government’s broader efforts to stabilise the economy, address the country’s debt challenges, and protect the wellbeing of citizens,” he said.

The progress made in China is expected to strengthen Ghana’s position as it seeks to conclude the challenging economic chapter and move towards a more resilient future.

Dr. Forson added that the talks were a significant step towards a more stable and inclusive economic future for Ghana.
