The Head pastor of the Church of Pentecost Central in the Koraso District of the Dormaa Central Municipality, Bono Region, Pastor Ebenezer Shamo Abbey, has implored the Dormaa Central MCE and other pertinent stakeholders to assist in the removal of a refuse heap situated behind the church edifice. This unsightly mound emits a foul odor, fosters mosquito breeding, and compromises the church’s sanitation and hygiene, posing the risk of filth-induced infections.
During the Dormaa Central MCE’s visit to the church on Sunday, Pastor Ebenezer Shamo Abbey expressed that the situation has plagued him and the congregation for the past six years, as the mission house is in close proximity to the refuse dump. This proximity often renders it unpleasant to reside contentedly in the house due to the odor emanating from the dumpsite.
He therefore urged the MCE to address this issue with urgency, to enhance the church’s appeal to its members and the wider community in Koraso town.
Several members of the Church, during an interaction with Newsmen, voiced profound apprehensions regarding the refuse heap situated behind the church edifice.
They highlighted their struggles as women in maintaining the cleanliness of the Church’s environs due to the accumulated waste. According to them, their evening services are frequently disrupted by mosquitoes and the unpleasant odors originating from the dump site, they urged the authorities to intervene and remove the refuse, thereby restoring sanitation and improving the Church compound’s sanitary conditions.
