Shama Constituency NDC Vice Chairman defects to NPP

Shama (W/R), July 27, GNA – The Vice Chairman of the Shama Constituency branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Supi Kofi Asmah has defected to the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Supi Asmah, who is also the Western Regional Co-ordinator of Professor Atta-Mills Fan Club, announced his defection at a Constituency Delegates’ Congress of the NPP at Shama, which re-elected the Member of Parliament, Mrs Angelina Baiden-Amissah by acclamation as the Parliamentary candidate of the Party for Election 2004.

Mrs Baiden-Amissah was the only candidate at the close of nominations.

Supi Asmah said his decision to join the NPP was motivated by the wonderful work of the ruling Party.

He said within three-and-a half years, the NPP had provided Shama with a number of development projects including school blocks, roads and bridges.

Supi Asmah said the NPP had also rehabilitated Shama Secondary School and upgraded the town’s clinic to a polyclinic. He said the development projects recorded in the area were more than that of the 19 years of PNDC/NDC rule.

“The President Kufuor Government is a genuine government for Ghanaians,” he said.

The Western Regional Organiser of the NPP, Mr Kojo Akwa, welcomed Supi Asmah and praised him for taking the decision.
