Manso-Nkwanta (Ash), July 20, GNA- A total of 366.9 kilometres of roads in the Amansie West district of Ashanti are being rehabilitated at the cost of 28.6 billion cedis.

Funds for the project are being provided by the government, the Department for International Development (DFID) of UK and the HIPC fund. Out of the number, 24.5 kilometres will be tarred at the cost of 25.3 billion cedis, while spot improvement and reshaping will be carried out on the rest of the roads.

Mr Ben Kwakye-Adeefe, Amansie West District Chief Executive said this when he took newsmen round to inspect some of the roads under rehabilitation at the weekend.

He said the project had reduced the problem of transportation difficulty in the district drastically thereby making the carting of foodstuffs to the markets easier without getting rotten on the farms while cocoa evacuation was also going on smoothly.

Mr Kwakye-Adeefe said people in the area appreciated government efforts of improving the road network in the District.
