Dr Frank Serebour, the General Secretary of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), has said medical doctors cannot absolve themselves as part of the blame for the proliferation of fake food products on the Ghanaian market.
According to him, they partly contribute and therefore underscored the need for measures to be put in place in order to curb the canker.
On Kumasi Fm in response to complaints made by some consumers over the rise in fake foods in the country he said: “Just as many have been accusing, I can’t say medical doctors are not contributing to this, we are also contributors of the societal problem, and we can’t exempt ourselves from that. Some members do that because they think they have to make money at all cost which is wrong”.
He condemned the practice adding that, doctors who advertise fake foods in the media are not helping the country but rather contributing to low sperm count among men because taking in fake foods results in that.
Dr Serebour faulted the Ministry of Health for not taking a firm decision to curb the national problem which in future will pose a major threat to the nation’s population.
He further smacked the media for allowing such acts on their various platforms because of money reminding the general public to be cautious about the kinds of food products they purchase from the market.
