Presiding Member calls for free, fair and violence-free elections

Nkoranza (B/A) June 11, GNA – Mr Adjei Yeboah, Presiding Member of Nkoranza District Assembly, has appealed to the people to help make the 2004 General Election free, fair and violence-free to ensure peace and stability for the development of the area.

He was speaking at the commissioning of a new 700-million cedis petrol filling station established by GOIL Services Company at Akumsa-Domase in the district.

Mr Yeboah commended Alhaji Ibrahim Ayiku, Managing Director of GOIL, for providing the facility to help enhance the development of the district.

He urged workers of the new station to give customers good services to promote patronage.

In an address read for him, Alhaji Ayiku announced that the company would also establish a car-washing bay, a supermarket and restaurant as well as a gas filling station in the town.

He said: “A hotel complex will be attached to the station to provide lodging for tourists and other travellers to the Boabeng-Fiema monkey sanctuary”.

Alhaji Ayiku expressed gratitude to Okatakyie Agyeman-Kudom IV, Omanhene of Nkoranza Traditional Area, and the chief of Akumsa-Domase, Nana Kwabena Osei II for realising land for the project. Mr Baba Musah, Sales Manager of the Kumasi Goil station, commended Alhaji Ayiku for his efforts and expressed the hope that other business-oriented citizens of the area would emulate him to help advance national development.

Mr Francis Kwame Nyarko of the Nkoranza Fire station advised the company to acquire fire fighting equipment and to prepare fire belts around the facility during the harmattan season to save it from fire disaster.

The Reverend Joseph Dankyi Baafi, in-charge of the Nkoranza Presbyterian Church and the Very Rev. Alexander Addae of the Nkoranza Circuit Methodist Church jointly dedicated the project.
