Massive turnout at Awutu-Effutu-Senya photo-taking exercise

Kasoa (C/R), June 9, GNA – Registered voters at Kasoa, in the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District of the Central Region, turned out massively for the photo-taking exercise of the Electoral Commission (EC), that started on Monday.

Mr Samuel Tettey, District Electoral Officer, who made this known to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), in an interview, on Tuesday, said some polling stations processed between 400 and 500 photo identification cards at the beginning of the exercise.

He said the EC had provided adequate materials for the 27 polling stations in the brisk market community, to cater for the huge number of registered voters.

Cameras have been provided for all the 148 polling stations in the District that comprise Winneba, Awutu Bawjiase, Bereku and Senya. Mr Tettey, said, the EC was targeting 98 per cent coverage of the 121, 909 eligible voters, at the end of the exercise on Saturday, June 12.

He called on political party representatives at the various polling stations to be extra vigilant to avoid impersonation.
