Immigration officers prevent Indian national from returning to Ghana

Information reaching Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM has it that Immigration officers have prevented Indian businessman Ashok Kumar Sivaram from re-entering the country.

The businessman who was deported from the country on basis of forging a fake marriage certificate is returning after an Accra High Court quashed the deportation order on Monday.

The court on Monday July 31, 2017 quashed a decision by the Interior Minister Ambrose Derry who deported an Indian National Ashok Kumar Sivaramout of Ghana.

He further indicated that the Interior Minister breached the rule of natural justice by not giving the plaintiff a hearing after he had accused him of allegedly committing fraud.

The applicant brought a case against the Interior Minister, Ambrose Dery and the Comptroller General of Immigration, Kwame Sakyi by an Indian national who is contesting his deportation from Ghana.

The applicant, Ashok Kumar Sivaram who had lived in the country for since the year 2000, accused the two officials of unlawfully deporting him over unsubstantiated claims.

The Interior Minister and the Comptroller General of Immigration are said to have approved the deportation of Mr Sivaram on grounds that he obtained a fake marriage certificate to enable his stay in the country.

The court further ruled that any attempt by the state to prevent Ashok Kumar Sivaram, from coming back to Ghana will be in contempt of court.

However, reliable information reaching Nyankonton Mu Nsem indicates that Sivram is being frustrated after touching down at the Kotoka International Airport.
