Sanction EC boss if found culpable of allegations – NPP Communicator

President Akufo-Addo has been asked to crack the whip if the embattled chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) Madam Charlotte Osei is found culpable of allegations leveled against her by the so-called concerned staff of the Commission.

“Treat her same as former President John Mahama treated the former Boss of the Commission of Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), Madam Lauretta Lamptey”, New Patriotic Party (NPP) communicator in the Ashanti Region, Kwaku Ntim Twumasi admonished.

“The EC chair like Madam Lauretta Lamptey is not above the law therefore we expect the President to act according to law if culpable to have broken any law as alleged”, the chief patron TESCON, Spiritan University College admonished

In 2014 September, the lawmaker for Nsawam Adoagyiri Hon. Frank Annor Dompreh petitioned then President John Mahama over Ms. Lauretta Lamptey’s decision to spend $180.000 on rent within a space of three months.

The Auditor-General indicted Madam Lauretta Lamptey of not refunding GHC89,551.79 to government chest for overstatement made in quest of funds for the payment of emoluments.

She was subsequently removed from office by then President John Mahama in accordance with Article 146 (9) after accepting recommendations of a committee set up by the Chief Justice to investigate allegations of corruption and mismanagement against her.

In the same line, the Concerned Staff of EC have also petitioned the presidency alleging Madam Charlotte Osei single handedly renegotiated a contract with a vendor worth $21,999.592 without going through tender contrary to the Public Procurement Act among many charges.

The embattled chairperson through her lawyers has mounted strong defense denying the twenty-eight claims describing them bogus claims.

But the 2016 campaign team member, in an interview with mynewgh.com reporter insists Madam Osei must be compelled to face the music if she is found to have misconducted herself after investigations.
