JSS block for Atwima-Seidi

Seidi (Ash), May 19, GNA- Residents of Seidi, a farming community near Nkawie in the Atwima District of Ashanti are putting up a three-classroom block, an office and store for the local Junior Secondary School (JSS) at a cost of 120 million cedis.

About eighty-five million cedis have been spent on the project, which was financed through voluntary contributions, and special levy of 20,000 cedis an elder, 10,000 cedis a male and 5,000 cedis a female. Opanin Kwasi Addai, Chairman of the School Management Committee (SMC) announced this at an educational forum organised by the Atwima district education directorate at Seidi on Tuesday.

He said the district assembly donated 50 bags of cement and four packets roofing sheets in support of the school project while the residents offered communal labour.

Mr Stephen Akuamoah-Boateng, assemblyman for Koben-Seidi, observed that education could be adequately improved in the community if the residents developed keen interest in education programmes.
