NMSQ: My boys fell sick studying for the quiz – Adisco Headmaster

The National Science and Maths Quiz apparently may have taken a bigger toll on students of the Adisadel College than many may know.

The college suffered a crushing defeat at this year’s NMSQ competition to winners Prempeh College and Aquinas who came in second.

Though the boys frantically set the tone to defend their second title in the history of the National Maths and Science Quiz, they were dethroned as they were left as spectators in the finals of the competition.

Headmaster of the school, William Kusi-Yeboah, in an interview with Accra based Adom Fm, bemoaned the devastating overthrow of his boys in the race. According to him, his boys went all out even to the point of forgoing their sleep in an effort to win the competition.

He recounted how one of his students came down with severe malaria in the course of the preparations. He also explained that his students had to endure the harsh bites of mosquitos while they burned the midnight candle just so they could excel and defend their title in the competition. The boy who was being groomed to contest eventually had to be replaced by another because of the situation.

“The boys didn’t sleep, in fact one of the students fell sick because of mosquitoes, even at 12, the boys would still be up and studying, he was part of our leading contestants but he had to be replaced, he got malaria in the course of the preparations”, he explained.

Luck however did not shine on their path as they eventually lost the trophy to Prempeh College in the competition.
