Nana Asenso Kuffo remembered for his part in the Denkyira War

Adwumakase-Kese (Ash), May 5, GNA- Nana Opoku Agyeman III, chief of Adwumakase-Kese in the Kwabre district of Ashanti has expressed appreciation to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for appreciating the part played by Nana Asenso Kuffo, chief of Adwumakase-Kese in the Ashanti war with the Denkyiras.

Nana Agyeman said this when he received a ram from Asanteman Council for the purification of his shrine.

He also praised the Asantehene for all that he had achieved for Asanteman and Ghana within the relatively short period of five years on the Golden Stool.

A statement issued at Adwumakase-Kese on Tuesday and signed by Nana Agyeman, mentioned the erection of the Otumfuo Opoku Ware II statue at the former Suame Roundabout now named Opoku Ware II circle and said it was highly commendable.

Nana Opoku Agyeman therefore asked all Ashantis to give special thanks to the Asantehene for the way he had lifted the image of Manhyia palace, the citadel of Asanteman.

During the purification ceremony, nana Opoku Agyeman reminded his people that Nana Asenso Kuffo whom they were remembering and who was allegedly buried alive, Nana Diko Pim of Ejisu who was skinned alive and Nana Tweneboa Kodua of Kumawu who was gunned down, volunteered their lives for the unity of Asanteman.

He therefore, asked the people to bury their differences and unite as one people with a common destiny and that the town could not see any meaningful development if there was no unity.

Nana Opoku Agyeman also thanked the various churches in the town for offering special prayers for peace and the various traditional priests and priestesses who also played their roles for the success of the occasion. 5 May 04
