Two including eye specialist killed in accident involving K’si South Hospital vehicle

Two persons died on the spot in an accident that occurred at Akyem Anyinase in the Akyemansa District of the Eastern Region Saturday morning, as disclosed by police reports.

The reports suggest the accident occurred at about 8:00 am. www.3news.com’s Yvonne Neequaye gathered a commercial Kia bus with registration number GT 4921-15 from Kumasi to Oda had a break failure and rammed into a Toyota Fortuner with registration number GT 6284 belonging to the Kumasi South Hospital.

The Hospital’s vehicle had staff said to be heading towards Akyem Wenchi for a funeral. Reports say two persons including an eye specialist died on the spot.

The driver of the Hospital’s car and another believed to be the Medical Director sustained serious injuries. They were rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for treatment.

Passengers of the Kia bus sustained several degrees of injury and were taken to the Oda Government Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Kia bus is, however, in the grips of the Oda police to assist in investigation, which began immediately.
