Schools re-opening dates postponed.

The central regional co-ordinating council has directed that re-opening of second-cycle schools in five districts in the region should be postponed until further notice. The decision, which was taken in consultation with heads of public and private educational institutions, followed an acute water shortage that has hit some parts of the region. An announcement at Cape Coast by the central regional minister, Mr. Kojo Yankah, said students who are taking examinations in June are, however, expected to report to their various schools on Monday May eleven. It asked parents and guardians to note that as soon as the water situation in the region improves, announcement for re-opening of the schools would be made.
