C.K Akonnor on brink of AshantiGold switch

Former Black Stars captain C.K Akonnor is closing in on a return to AshantiGold as coach of the Obuasi-based side.

Akonnor, 43, featured for the Miners between 1990 and 1992.

He has been contacted for the job made vacant by the resignation of coach Bashir Hayford a fortnight ago, AshantiGold officials have confirmed to starrsportsgh.com.

Indeed, the coach held talks with the CEO of AshantiGold in Accra on Sunday with monetary compensation the only factor yet to be sealed.

Starrsportsgh.com can also confirm that Paa Kwasi Fabin was also contacted by AshGold but the Miners cut short their interest due to complications over the former Kotoko and Hearts trainer’s current role with the Black Starlets.

C.K Akonnor is currently the coach of Division One side Dreams FC. He has also previously managed Sekondi XI Wise and Accra Hearts of Oak.
