Electrician charged with stealing

Tema, March 2, GNA- The sharing of proceeds from a stolen gas cylinder exposed an electrician to be charged with stealing at the Tema Circuit Court “A”.

Paul Zionklui pleaded not guilty to stealing two bicycles and a gas cylinder, all valued at 1.3 million cedis. He was granted 20 million cedis bail and will reappear on March 16, 2004.

Police Inspector Adolphus Otchere, told the court that on February 10, 2004, at about 0400 hours, Mr Yaw Antwi, an auto electrician found that his kitchen had been broken into and two bicycles and gas cylinder, all valued at 1.3 million cedis had been stolen. He reported the case to Ashaiman police.

The prosecution said on February 11, 2004, Mr Antwi heard that the accused was quarrelling with a friend over a gas cylinder which the friend had sold without bringing the proceeds to the accused. Mr Antwi arrested Paul and escorted him to the police station. The accused to retrieve the cylinder, but told them that he had sold the bicycles and made use of the proceeds.
