Sunyani (B/A), Feb. 20, GNA – The Brong-Ahafo Regional Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), in collaboration with its Sunyani Municipal Directorate will organize a clean-up exercise to rid the Municipality of filth every Friday of each month. It will begin with a clean-up at the Sunyani butchery on Friday, February 27.
The programme, expected to inculcate the spirit of communal cleanliness among residents, was adopted at a meeting in Sunyani attended by representatives of political parties, Muslim Council, environmental health officers, chiefs, Department of Social Welfare and Community Development.
Others were from Associations of Catholic Women’s, Tailors and Dressmakers, Press, Environmentalists as well as Associations of Traditional Herbal, Catholic Women’s, Moslem Council and other identifiable groups.
They condemned the unsanitary conditions at the butchery and called on the Municipal Assembly to take measures to ensure that the place is kept tidy at all times.
The entire area does not only stinks but is also an eyesore and a big disgrace to the Municipal status, they noted.
