I don’t love Akufo-Addo but I respect his values and principles – Rawlings

Despite declaring his confidence in the current president of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo several times, former President Jerry John Rawlings has cleared the air on some misconceptions.

According to the former president, he believes Nana Addo possesses “certain principles and values” that will help build Ghana, but he (Rawlings) most certainly does note love him.

“We are very fortunate also that somebody like Nana Akufo-Addo has emerged over here. People think I love that man to high heavens. No. But I respect him for certain principles and values,” Rawlings said when a group of movie actors paid a courtesy call on him at his Ridge residence.

Martha Ankomah, Nana Ama McBrown, Gloria Sarfo and Nigeria’s Pete Edochie were among some of the entertainment players present at the meeting.

Rawlings noted that he will continue to hope that Nana Addo will devote some time to the true development of Ghana and also make time to fight corruption.

JJ Rawlings has been on a campaign against corruption during the tenure of ex-president John Mahama and has, on occasions, denounced rampant corruption in the erstwhile NDC administration.
