Several people injured in multiple car crash at Okponglo

Several persons were injured when a trailer with failed brakes run into seven vehicles at the Legon Okponglo traffic light junction in Accra.

According to an account by Police personnel from the Airport Police station, the Friday accident involved four commercial vehicles, two private cars and a taxi cab.

Sergeant Owusu indicated more than twenty people with varying degrees of injuries were affected in the multiple vehicular crash, adding that they had been taken to nearby hospitals including 37 Military Hospital.

The accident resulted in a heavy traffic congestion on the Okponglo Tetteh Quarshie stretch of the Madina-Accra road.

Fire Service personnel came to the scene of the accident to aid the Police in clearing the road and towing the cars away. The exercise lasted for over four hours.
