Missing State Cars: Only 218 vehicles at presidency – Gov’t

Sources in government have disclosed that a list of 218 vehicles was received from the previous Mahama-led NDC government.

The vehicles include 173 serviceable vehicles and 45 unserviceable vehicles.

It is in that vein that the Director of Communications at the presidency, Eugene Arhin, informed the people of Ghana about the over Two Hundred (200) missing vehicles from the presidency.

These 200 vehicles were given to officials of the past NDC government to use and to return same to the Presidency upon being booted out of office.

There are a few facts of this issue:

1. The government received a Total of 218 vehicles.

a. The government received 173 serviceable vehicles.

b. The government received 45 unserviceable vehicles.

According to the incumbent government, these are the bare facts.

The list of vehicles with the Registration Number, Make of Vehicle and the Chassis Numbers have been attached.

But on Thursday, Former Deputy Chief of Staff in the previous administration, Johnny Osei Kofi, made public a list of 641 state vehicles that they handed over to the present government.

However, contributing to a panel discussion on Peace FM’s ‘kokrokoo’ programme, recently appointed Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Scheme, Nana Boakye says the NDC should, therefore, tell the government of the Republic of Ghana who they gave the cars to so that they will be retrieved.

“Cars that are there as I talk now are 173. In fact, the Ford Expedition is not part … That car is not part of the cars . . . 173 cars, the registration numbers are there. This is a list of cars that comes from Jubilee House. The car’s number, the vehicle’s description, chassis number, and the leader in Jubilee House who’s been given for use and any other thing whether it’s bullet proof or not bullet proof are all there. These are serviceable. Serviceable vehicles at the Flagstaff House are 173…Even Ford Expedition that was given as a gift to the President (John Mahama) and he said he gave that to the government. And that it is government’s and has been registered, and so it’s part of the State cars. It is not part of the vehicles. It’s not there. So, somebody should come and tell us. Somebody should show us where the vehicle is,” he said.

He added that the Ford Expedition that was given to Former President John Dramani Mahama as a gift, which the former President claimed to have added to the fleet of cars at the Flagstaff House, has also gone missing and is nowhere to be found.

The Presidency says the so-called 641 cars are not at the presidency.
