Police impounds 29 motorbikes in Half Assini

The Half-Assini District Police Command in the Jomoro District of the Western Region has impounded a total of 29 Motorbikes and Tricycles for various traffic offences.

They are made up of Twenty-six Motorbikes and three Tricycles.

The District Crime Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Charles Mensah, who disclosed this to the GNA in an interview at Half-Assini said the measure was to ensure sanity on the roads.

He said all the motorbikes were arrested in a swoop in Half-Assini and its environs.

The Crime Officer said while some of the bikes were unregistered, others overloaded their bikes.

Others he added were riding without licenses.

ASP Charles Mensah said during the swoop, some of the riders bolted away abandoning their Motorbikes adding that those arrested would be arraigned before Court for the appropriate sanctions.

He pointed out that, “If those who escaped failed to report their Motorbikes will get rotten at the Station”.

The Crime Officer said the operation would however be temporarily suspended until those arrested were dealt with and the Police Car Park cleared of the impounded Motorbikes to pave way for new ones.
