Awards for health workers in deprived communities advocated

Mankranso (Ash), Feb 1, GNA – Dr Edward Tagoe, Ahafo-Ano South District Director of Health Services, has stressed the need to honour health personnel working in deprived communities to motivate them to give of their best.

He said such awards would also entice other health workers to accept postings to remote communities.

Dr Tagoe was addressing the annual health information management system review meeting of the Ahafo-Ano South District at Mankranso at the weekend.

The meeting organised by the District Ghana Health Service was aimed at promoting quality health delivery.

It was also designed to help the participants to identify, discuss and find solutions to problems and to plan strategies for improving health care in the district.

Dr Tagoe announced that this year’s end-of-year award winners for health workers would be selected mainly from the remote areas where staff lacked logistics like bicycles, accommodation and offices. He entreated the participants to make ample use of planning techniques at their respective workplaces to enable them to be in a position to present very accurate data about their work.
