Upper West NPP cautions members against violence

Wa, Jan. 28, GNA – The Upper West Regional leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has cautioned its members to be law abiding and avoid all acts and attitudes that could foment trouble and confusion. “We want the NPP members to respect the law, use all legal ways and means to address their issues and we shall not forgive members who resort to the use of violence and confusion.”

Mr. Abu Ibrahim Tammah, Deputy Regional Secretary of the party said this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Wa said the party had embarked on an educational programme to sensitise members on the need to campaign in a peaceful manner.

Mr. Tammah said members had also been educated on their rights and responsibilities during the voters’ registration exercise, campaigns and the election.

“We want them to know what they are supposed to do during these national exercises so that they do not repeat mistakes of the past.

Mr. Tammah said all the party’s polling station chairmen and executives had been educated on their roles at heir various points to avoid violence and misunderstanding.

Alhaji Seidu Yakubu, Regional Vice Chairman, said the party was doing everything possible to win all the seats in the region. He said the government within its three years of administration had performed creditably in providing good roads, potable water, school buildings among others things.

Alhaji Yakubu alleged that other parties had started the politics of lies and total falsehood, which did not augur well for the development of the country.

He appealed to the leaderships of various political parties to educate their members against violence.
