An interfaith service to thank God for the peaceful and successful conduct of recently held presidential and parliamentary polls has been held in Kumasi.
It was also used to pray for His gift of wisdom for the elected leaders, continued peace, progress and prosperity of the nation.
The programme was put together by the Faith to Action Women Conference – an interfaith organisation, committed to the cause of women and Ghana’s development.
The Very Reverend (Mrs.) Janet Osei-Kuffour, an Executive Member of the Conference, reminded the incoming political administration to uphold the values of discipline, transparency and integrity.
Those who would have the opportunity to serve in the government should be humble, modest and accountable.
They should go to every length to avoid the arrogance of power and accept to put the common good ahead of personal comfort and convenience, she added.
The Very Rev Mrs. Osei-Kuffour, an ordained Minister of the Methodist Church Ghana (MCG), reminded everybody to find space to contribute to the development of the country.
She also underlined the need for all to accept to live in unity and genuine reconciliation.
Mrs. Boadesia Ama Prempeh, a Founding Member of the Conference, applauded all Ghanaians for the maturity they demonstrated during the elections.
She also gave high marks to the Electoral Commission (EC) and its Chairperson, Mrs. Charlotte Osei, for a job done – delivering a clean and credible election.
Madam Halimatu Ibrahim, a Muslim Scholar, urged inter-religious harmony and tolerance to sustain the nation’s stability.
