Yussif Jajah Promotes Ghana’s Tourism and Backs Open Skies Initiative at POATE 2025

Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to regional tourism development and continental integration at the 9th Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo (POATE) 2025 in Kampala, Uganda.

Representing the country at the event, Ghana’s Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Yussif Jajah, joined fellow African leaders in supporting the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM), a flagship African Union initiative aimed at enhancing air connectivity across the continent.

The expo, held from May 21 to 24 at the Speke Resort and Convention Centre, was themed “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation.” It brought together tourism stakeholders, international buyers, investors, and media professionals to promote regional collaboration and showcase Uganda’s tourism potential.

Speaking during a ministerial panel on strategic partnerships in tourism marketing, Hon. Jajah outlined Ghana’s cultural and natural tourism assets and highlighted government initiatives to grow the sector. He also acknowledged ongoing challenges in infrastructure and marketing, stressing the need for strategic alliances to overcome them.

POATE 2025 also witnessed the launch of Uganda’s “Tell Your Story – Explore Uganda” campaign, which encourages citizens to promote the country’s tourism through storytelling.

The event provided a platform for business networking, regional cooperation, and discussions on sustainable tourism. Ghana’s active participation reflects its ongoing efforts to build a competitive, united African tourism market
