Rev. Father expresses concern about filthy surroundings

Morso (Ash) Jan. 13, GNA- Rev. Father Peter Owusu-Mensah, Parish priest of St. Andrew Catholic church, Juaso in Ashanti on Sunday expressed concern about filth that had engulfed various surroundings and attributed the situation to poor planning and non-execution of sanitation programmes by district assemblies.

“While we blame the authorities, we should also blame ourselves, because we create the filth and throw them into gutters, even where litter bins have been provided,” he said.

Father Owusu-Mensah was preaching at the newly established St Michael’s Catholic Church at Morso near Juaso during their first annual harvest, which yielded two million cedis.

He said apart from the filth in gutters, it contributes immensely to the breeding of mosquitoes, thereby increasing the incidence of malaria.

“Malaria has become one of the killer diseases in the country,” he added and urged Ghanaians to clean their surroundings to avoid it. “Christians should always remember that cleanliness is next to godliness” he said and appealed to non-resident Catholics citizens of Morso to patronise the church so that Christianity would be felt in the town.
