A timely intervention of firemen from Akim Oda, Breman Asikuma, Agona Swedru, Kade and Koforidua, yesterday saved Oda sawmills from total destruction. Mr. Kweku Manu Afful, Birim south District Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service, told the GNA that following a distress call received from the factory at 11 O’clock on the morning of Tuesday, firemen were immediately rushed to Oda sawmills. “We got there to find that the sawn dust silo was in flames. The fire was about to engulf the whole factory”. Messages were quickly sent to Breman Asikuma, Agona Swedru, Kade and Koforidua whose timely arrival helped us greatly to bring the fire under control by 4.30 p.m. Mr. Afful said investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire and the extent of damage to property of the sawmill. Mr. Seth Fiifi Aboagye, General Manager of the sawmill, will not comment on the issue saying it is too early to do so. Gri
