Let us lead lives worthy of emulation-Rev Bempong

Kade, Dec 31, GNA – The Reverend Joseph Obeng Bempong, Kade District Pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, has urged Christians to lead moral lives worthy of emulation.

He said Christians had a duty to ensure that love, peace, unity and harmony prevailed in the years ahead towards national development. The District Pastor made the call at a thanks-giving service to commemorate the 175th Anniversary Celebration of the Advent of the Church in Ghana under the theme “Come, let us walk in the light of the Lord”.

He appealed to all religious bodies to assist the government in the fight against HIV/AIDS adding that the disease had assumed a developmental issue.

Rev. Bempong appealed to the youth to abstain from pre-marital sex and married couples to be faithful to their partners.

Rev. Bempong advised Ghanaians to ensure that next year’s general election became free, fair and devoid of acrimony and violence. The District Pastor said there was the need to ensure justice, rule of law, probity and accountability to promote the country’s infant democracy.

Recounting the historical background of the Church, Rev Bempong said Basel, the church’s original name, was changed to Presbyterian at a Synod at the Abetifi Ramseyer Centre in 1926.
