Pest control seminar held for Environmental Health Officers

Mankranso (Ash), Dec. 24, GNA- A one-day seminar on pest control has been held for 30 environmental health officers drawn from the Ahafo-Ano South and Atwima districts at Mankranso.

It was organised and sponsored by the Ashanti regional Environmental Health Unit to prepare the officers to operate effectively and render quality service to the people.

They were taken through principles of management practices, identification detection, monitoring and control of insect pests in public health and hygienic situations.

The participants were also enlightened on physical control techniques, selection and application of insect control and safety measures.

In an address, Mr Anthony Mweackah, the Ashanti Regional Environmental Health Officer, asked the health officers to critically study the behaviour of the insects to be able to eliminate them. He said as pest controllers, they must understand the needs of the people as the first principle to their duties so that they would be in a better position to respond effectively to them.
