North Tongu DCE visits Juapong

Juapong (V/R), Dec. 19, GNA — The North Tongu District Chief Executive, Mr Nicholas Ahiadomeh, on Thursday reiterated Government’s assurance that all communities irrespective of their political affiliations would have a fair share of development projects. He, however, urged Ghanaians especially the rural folks, to organise themselves and support the Government’s efforts. Mr Ahiadomeh said this when he paid a familiarisation visit to Juapong during which he declared his intention to contest the North Tongu seat in 2004 elections.

In an interaction with the Juapong Senior Citizens Association, the DCE asked them to embrace the National Health Insurance Scheme since it was the only positive way to ensure that they enjoyed quality health care delivery.

“No matter how poor you are you can organise your family and join the scheme for it is the best way to ensure that you have easier and best care when you are sick”, he said.

He said the North Tongu District had received 250 million cedis to start the scheme in July 2004.

Members of the Association during an open forum suggested that pensioners be placed under the old pension scheme, CAP 30, since the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) Pension Scheme did not favour them.

They mentioned lack of basic social amenities, like clinics, secondary and technical schools as some problems in the area and said apart from Juapong all the surrounding villages lacked potable water.
