The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) taskforce has continued its decongestion exercise, targeting the busy Circle Neoplan Station on Wednesday.

This marks the second day of the campaign, which aims to restore order and improve movement in the capital.

The operation involved clearing unauthorized structures and removing street vendors, with officials emphasizing the need to enforce sanitation and traffic regulations.

According to the AMA, the goal is to enhance pedestrian and vehicular flow, while ensuring compliance with city planning rules.

The exercise began on Tuesday, focusing on areas around the AMA headquarters, including Kinbu Road and Opera Square. Authorities have appealed to traders and commuters to cooperate with the taskforce to avoid any confrontations.

The AMA has reiterated its commitment to the exercise, with the aim of making Accra a cleaner, safer, and more accessible city for residents.

In a related development, Accra Mayor Michael Allotey has announced that items seized during the exercise will be donated to the Ghana Prisons Service, discontinuing the practice of auctioning them off.
