ECG disconnects power supply to Ghana News Agency

Electricity supply to the Ghana News Agency head office in Accra has reportedly been cut.

The news agency is said to be owing the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) GHC450,000 covering the period January 2015 to date.

Frustrated staff, reports say, have been told to keep quiet on the matter, as management work around the clock to restore power.

ECG last month initiated a mass disconnection exercise at some government institutions across the country, in a bid to retrieve huge debts owed it by the institutions.

The exercise which has been described as a “special revenue mobilisation exercise” has seen defaulting institutions being taken off the national grid.
