Takoradi Poly pay compensation on land

Takoradi Polytechnic has asked families whose land was procured for the construction of the third campus to submit documents for compensation to give way for the completion of the project.

The Polytechnic has paid compensation to the Chief of Akatakyi in the Ahanta-West District of the Western Region but failed to render accounts to his elders.

Reverend Professor Frank Eshun, Rector of the Polytechnic told the Ghana News Agency money has been paid as compensation after the recommendations of a committee constituted to find lasting solutions to issues surrounding compensation on the Akatakyi lands.

The project is to ensure that fresh students at the School of Engineering would have a comfortable learning environment.

Prof Eshun said the four- storey facility would have information and communication technology centre, library, laboratories and hostel facilities.

The Akatakyi project is being financed by the African Development Bank under a six million- dollar facility for the development of 15 specific projects in harnessing the educational prospects of the polytechnic.

Prof Eshun said the Bank and the Council for Technical and Vocational Education contracted Messrs Fridoug Limited to commence works.
