I’ve dropped more ministers than other gov’ts – Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has said he is not a politician who is afraid to talk about corruption.

Political opponents and critics of the president say he is doing little in the fight against corruption and that he is always quick to shield perceived corrupt government officials.

However, speaking on Volta Star Thursday as part of his ‘Accounting To The people Tour’ in the Volta Region, President Mahama denied the charge, adding he is the only president who has dropped more ministers and appointees than any other government over corruption.

“I’m not a politician who is afraid of corruption. I’m prepared to talk about it every day and I speak about it every day,” the president said.

President believes that, there is more talk and discussion on corruption in the media because “my government is prepared to investigate, not only expose, and sanction corruption”.

He indicated that in the past, governments sanctioned corrupt government officials after the government had left office, insisting that he is dealing with corrupt officials while his government is still in power.

According to him, since 2012 Ghana has been doing well in the fight against corruption per the Transparency International Corruption Index and that, it was wrong for people to claim that his government is corrupt.

He reiterated that where there is evidence of corruption, the alleged culprits are investigated and sanctioned.
