Chiefs, development committees urged to ensure judicious use of funds

Ajumako Kromaim (C/R), Sept. 8, GNA – The Central Regional Minister, Mr Isaac Edumadze on Sunday appealed to chiefs and town development committees to ensure the judicious use of funds raised for the implementation of projects in their areas.

He said this would encourage more people to make donations during fund-raising activities. ”Most people refuse to contribute towards such programmes because of misapplication and improper rendering of accounts.”

Mr Edumadze said this at separate fund-raising activities held at Ampia-Ajumako, Ajumako-Entumbil, Ajumako Kromaim, Enyan-Maim and Enyan-Apaa, in the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District, to round off their annual ‘Akwanbo’ festivals.

Among the development projects planned by the communities are streetlights and the rehabilitation of markets and school buildings. Mr Edumadze appealed to the people to bury their differences and gear their efforts towards the development of their communities, saying, “it is when you have prepared, that someone can help you”.

At Enyan Apaa he told the people about government’s plan to connect them to the national grid as well as find a lasting solution to their water problem.

The Chief of the town, Nana Obrimpong Kwaasi IV told the Minister that due to lack of water, health facilities and electricity, teachers have been refusing posting to the town and this had resulted in the poor performance of pupils.

The Chief of Ajumako Kromaim, Nana Kwaw Freiku XI thanked the government for rehabilitating the roads in his area and appealed to the District Assembly to construct a Headteacher’s bungalow in the town. The Chief of Ampia-Ajumako, Nana Afari Twakro appealed to the government to rehabilitate the road leading to the town.
