Techiman (B/A) Aug. 22 GNA – Techiman District Directorate of the Ghana Health Services (GHS) has presented eight bicycles and T-Shirts valued at eight million cedis to members of Health Surveillance Volunteer Squad in the District.
The presentation was in recognition of the selfless contribution of the volunteers to healthcare delivery.
Dr Gladstone Kessie, Techiman District Director of Health Services, said the Directorate initiated the community surveillance project to enable volunteers to work on preventive healthcare by monitoring the outbreak of diseases to elicit quick response.
He said 238 volunteers have been trained, adding that plans were far advanced for the construction of a clinic at Nkwaeso. Mr Isaac Osei-Antwi, District Chief Executive, who presided, lauded the efforts of the Techiman Health Services for initiating the project from their limited budget.
He expressed gratitude to the volunteers for working without any monetary incentives, saying their action had shown that they were selfless and patriotic Ghanaians.
Madam Margaret Adom, a Volunteer of Techiman Sub-District, who received the items on behalf of her colleagues, gave the assurance that they would continue to work extra hard to justify the awards.
