CPP Vets Presidential Aspirants

Accra, Aug. 19, GNA – The Central Committee (CC) of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) has appointed a six-member committee to vet Presidential Aspirants in accordance with the provisions of the Party’s Constitution.
The committee, which will begin its work on August 30, has the following members: Mr Hans Kofi Boni; Alhaji Dauda Yahaya; Madam Adisa Munkaila and Mrs Jane Chinebuah.
The rest are, Mr J.K.A. Tamakloe and Dr M. N. Tetteh.
This was contained in a statement issued and signed by the General Secretary of the party Professor Nii Noi Dowuona.
Mr George Aggudey, Alhaji Ibrahim Mahama and Mr Kwamina Komete Sackey have filed to contest for the presidential slot of the CPP at its congress.
According to the statement, other positions opened to contestants are National Chairman, National Vice Chairman and the Secretary positions.
Dr E. N. Delle, Mr Idrisu Egala and Mr Felix Amoah are those contesting for the position of National Chairman.
Mr Mike Eghan, Mr Kwesi Prempeh, Mrs Araba Bentsi Enchill, Dr Asuah Kwesi, Nana Kofi Buckman and Mr Johnny Hansen are contesting the post of the National Vice Chairman.
For the National Secretary the contest is among Prof Nii Noi Dowuona, Mr Kwasi Baidu and Mr Ganiyu Akanni Balogun while the National Treasurer’s post will be a two man contest between Mr Martin Donkor, the incumbent and Mr Ekow Duncan.
The statement said the leadership entreats all contestants to go about their campaign without malice and slander and also strive to uphold the CPP constitution to avoid confusion.
The statement said preparations for the congress are in progress with regional conference for Volta, Eastern, Greater Accra, Central and Western Regions scheduled to end on the August 30.
